The measurement standard of each shipping service

Taooobuy's online shipping services are mainly divided into three categories: postal, express, and dedicated line. The weighing standard for each route is different.

For detailed information, you can refer to the table below and the shipping cost estimate

Estimated Billable Weight and Actual Billable Weight - When can the overcharged postage be refunded?

Calculating the estimated billable weight and actual billable weight of a package is a feature of Taoobuy that aims to protect the interests of both users and the platform. The difference in shipping costs will be refunded in a timely manner, which is beneficial to users and saves them from spending extra money.

What is the estimated billable weight?

After the goods are put into storage, there will be a weight that is the same as the original packaging of the goods. When submitting a package, the system will estimate the packaging weight based on the weight of the incoming goods and calculate the total weight. If you request to remove the packaging when submitting the package, the weight after packaging will be inconsistent. That is, the total weight when submitting the package is the estimated billable weight.

What is the actual billable weight?

After the package you submit is packed, the warehouse will weigh and measure it. If the package arrives at the logistics provider's warehouse, the logistics provider will not adjust the billable weight of the package. The actual billable weight is based on the warehouse weighing measurement.

If the logistics provider adjusts the billable weight of the package, the actual billable weight is based on the logistics provider's measurement. The actual billable weight can be checked by clicking "Details" on the package page 3 days after the package is sent.

Tips:

International shipping charges are based on the actual weight and volumetric weight of the package. When choosing a logistics route that calculates volumetric weight, if the volumetric weight of the package is greater than the actual weight, it will be charged according to the volumetric weight, that is, the actual billable weight of the package is the volumetric weight.

If the actual billable weight of the package is greater than the estimated billable weight, the system will notify the user to complete the pending payment. If the estimated billable weight of the package is greater than the actual billable weight and exceeds the additional weight, the system will automatically return the difference to your Taoobuy account balance within 72 hours after the package is shipped.

Why should I combine deliveries?

Combining multiple items from your warehouse not only ensures professional packaging, but also helps save international shipping costs compared to shipping them separately.

Take GD-EMS to the United States as an example,

Assuming the first weight is 500g, the fee is $30, and the subsequent fee is $10 for each 500g, and a $1 handling fee is charged for each package.

Suppose you have 3 items, weighing 700g, 1100g, and 1600g respectively.

1. If you choose regular shipping (packages are sent separately), the fee is $153.

(30+10+1)+(30+10*2+1)+(30+10*3+1)=153 USD

2. If you choose combined shipping, the shipping fee is only $91.

The total weight of the package is calculated as follows: 700g+1100g+1600g=3400g.

Shipping fee: 30+10*6+1=91 USD

Combined shipping saves you 2 first weights + 2 handling fees, directly saving 62 USD in shipping fees

153-91=62 USD

Tip:

The weight and quantity of a package are key factors in determining whether it is a personal or commercial package in various countries. Packages over 10KG are more likely to be classified as commercial packages, and a large number of identical items is another important reason for being considered a commercial package. Therefore, we recommend considering the weight and quantity of items when choosing to combine multiple items for shipping.

Actual weight and volumetric weight

Some routes will have the actual weight and volumetric weight of the package, and the route will charge the larger of the two.

What is the actual weight?

That is, the weight of the product itself plus the packaging weight of the packaging materials used for the product.

What is volumetric weight?

Volumetric weight is a method of calculating the weight of light goods in the transportation industry, that is, when the package volume is too large and the actual weight is small, the volumetric weight billing method will be used.

How to calculate volumetric weight?

Volumetric weight (KG) = package length (CM) × width (CM) × height (CM)) / 5000 (or 6000, 7000, 8000 according to the standards of third-party logistics providers).

Is my package calculated by volumetric weight?

If you want to know whether your package is calculated by volume before submitting the package, please check it through the freight estimate

(Warm reminder: The freight estimate is for reference only, and the actual cost is subject to the warehouse packaging)
